Safeguarding at Nanour
Nanour is built for children. Safeguarding is not a section at the bottom of our website — it shapes how we hire tutors, design lessons, store data, and respond when something is wrong.
Our principles
- Every child deserves a calm, respectful, age-appropriate learning experience.
- Parents stay informed and in control.
- Tutors are screened before they teach.
- Lessons are recorded and reviewable.
- Concerns are taken seriously and acted on quickly.
Tutor screening
Tutors are screened before teaching. Depending on location, this may include identity checks, references, DBS checks or equivalent local checks, safeguarding training and platform conduct rules. We do not list tutors publicly until screening is complete.
Lesson recording and consent
Lessons are recorded for safeguarding, quality, and learning purposes. Parents are informed before any recording begins. Recordings are stored securely and are not shared outside Nanour without consent, except where required by law.
Parent access and oversight
Parents have access to their child's account, lesson schedule, lesson summaries, and recordings on request. Children do not have private messaging with tutors outside the lesson environment.
Child accounts and permissions
Child accounts are linked to a parent account. Children cannot change personal details, payment information, or contact tutors outside scheduled lessons.
Tutor conduct rules
Tutors agree to a written code of conduct covering professional language, appropriate dress, lesson environment, communication boundaries, and safeguarding reporting. Breaches are investigated and may result in removal from the platform.
How concerns are reported
If you have a safeguarding concern about a tutor, a lesson, another child, or anything you have seen on Nanour, please email safeguarding@nanour.co. You can also write to us by post — request the address from the same email.
How concerns are handled
We acknowledge safeguarding emails within one working day. We investigate proportionately, involve external authorities where appropriate, and let you know the outcome. We will never ask you to handle a safeguarding concern alone.
